YNYSAWDRE COMMUNITY COUNCIL

About us

Welcome to your Community Council website. We hope it provides you with all the information you’re looking for!

Ynysawdre is the starting point of three heritage, picturesque valleys – Llynfi, Garw and Ogmore. Comprising of the two villages, this is really a fantastic place to live, work, and play, and we are lucky to live in such a wonderful historical location. We also have excellent transport links of bus and rail.

The Parish Rooms dates back to 1893 and Tondu is home to the Grade 3 listed Ironworks, and Parc Slip pays homage to the miners with a memorial to the 112 men who lost their lives in the disaster of 1892.

Brynmenyn is a small village located at the confluence of the Garw and Ogmore rivers, and the beautiful Bryngarw Country Park is situated on the north-western boundary of the village.

When it comes to education both our primary school, Ysgol Gynradd Brynmenyn, and secondary our school, Coleg Cymunedol Y Dderwen, boast outstanding reputations for education.

There are excellent opportunities to keep fit, enjoying wonderful facilities at the Ynysawdre Swimming Pool and Fitness Centre. We also have the home ground of Tondu Rugby Club at Pandy Park, which is the home of Tondu Robins AFC. And for lovers of cricket, there is Tondu Cricket Club on Bryn Road. We are lucky to have access to traffic free cycle routes to Kenfig Hill, Blackmill, Nantymoel, Blaengarw, and Bridgend (See Around Ynysawdre for more information).

We are proud of our historic area and want the best for our residents, which is why we are delighted to provide you with a fantastic range of services for our community.

We always strive to be as helpful and as supportive as we can and our thoughts are always working towards improving our wonderful location.
